These are just some of the questions you may want to ask to become comfortable and familiarize yourself with your cosmetic surgery procedure and plastic surgeon. Then it's up to you. Some patients conclude their consultation by scheduling surgery. Others want to think it over. Some return for a second or third consultation. We encourage you to do what feels right for you.

Cosmetic surgery is a big decision.  You should not feel rushed into making a choice. Dr. Viera and our staff will do everything they can to help you make the right choice.


Questions you should ask during your consultation:

  • What is the extent of your medical and plastic surgical training?
  • What specialties are you board-certified?
  • How frequent do you perform the procedure(s) I am inquiring?
  • What type of technique(s)will you use in surgery?
  • What is the length of the entire procedure?
  • What is the extent of discomfort after surgery and for how long?
  • What risks and complications must I be informed?
  • Do you have instruction sheets for pre and post operation?
  • Are your nursing staff well qualified in the field of cosmetic plastic surgery?
  • Do you have a board-certified anaesthetist trained in cosmetic plastic procedures?
  • How long have they been with you?
  • What medical societies and organizations do you belong to?
  • Do you have liability insurance?
  • May I see before-and-after photographs of previous patients?
  • Do you have a list of patients who would discuss their surgery?
  • Is financing of my surgery available?
