Enhance Your Facial Looks with Nose Surgery
Nose Surgery Success Story
The nose is the most important feature of our face. It can enhance or detract from all the other features. It is central to the eyes and lips so these two features are the most impaired by an unattractive nose and alternatively the most enhanced by an attractive one. Houston’s Premier Cosmetic Surgeon, Hector M. Viera, M.D., F.A.C.S. is here to help you.
What qualifications should a surgeon have to perform Rhinoplasty
The first basic qualification is having a well rounded specialty training and Board Certification in Facial Plastic Surgery. Second is many years of experience from hundreds of nasal surgeries performed since the nose is cartilage skin and bones and not clay. Third is a fine tuned aesthetic sense.
Dr. Hector M. Viera did his specialty training at the University of Maryland Hospital. He is Board Certified in Facial Plastic Surgery as well as Board Certified in Ear Nose and Throat Surgery which makes him the premier surgeon to perform the cosmetic surgery and correct any breathing abnormality simultaneously. He has over 25 years of experience in Rhinoplasty and has performed several thousand nasal procedures. He received his training in sculpture at the Glassell School of Art in Houston.
What is offered in your consultation?
Here at Cosmetic Surgery Associates in Houston, TX, Dr. Viera becomes very actively involved and participates with his patients in finding what their goal is. Patients are shown a slide show of many of his results where several will be similar to the person seeking Rhinoplasty. He also helps them make a decision via the use of computerized video imaging. Dr. Viera is a very skilled surgeon with a fine artistic sense. He has perfected his technique. Rhinoplasty is a learned art.
What techniques does Dr. Viera use to perform Rhinoplasty?
Dr. Viera uses both the open as well as the closed Rhinoplasty techniques. The open method allows more visualization and is more exact, this is the method he prefers in most cases. He does not “break the bones” or pack the inside of the nose consequently our patients feel comfortable after surgery.
How long does the procedure last?
Ethnic Nose Surgery Success Story
The procedure lasts an average of one and a half hours depending on the amount of surgery necessary. Our patients invariably comment not having felt any pain.
Is the procedure safe?
Yes, it is very safe. We have never had any bleeding or infection in our Rhinoplasty patients. We perform our surgeries in our AAAHC Accredited Surgery Center. It has been accredited for over fifteen years and has the highest accreditation given. There is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and a Registered Nurse Anesthetist with a Masters Degree in anesthesia on our staff. Our patients are monitored continuously by the anesthesia and nursing personnel during their recovery. Dr. Viera calls his patients the evening of surgery to check on their progress and to answer any questions.
How long is the recovery?
There is an immediate improvement in the appearance of the nose which is very exciting to our patients. Swelling and bruising occurs with nasal surgery to various degrees. The swelling is generally gone within a week; the bruising may take up to two weeks but can be covered with camouflage cream or make up. Dr. Viera advises his patients on dos and don’ts to avoid swelling and bruising as well as herbals to use during recovery.
