Eyelid Surgery Improves Droopy Eyelids

If eyes are the window to the soul, what do your eyes say about you? Genetics, lifestyle and habits can play a role in how your eyes age. Even when you’re vigilant about eye skin care, it can lose elasticity as you age and begin to sag. If your eyes are telling on you, find out if you’re a candidate for eyelid surgery.

Droopy eyelids and bags under your eyes can cause you to look older, obstruct your vision and smudge your makeup. Sagging skin and bags under your eyes can be exacerbated by lack of sleep, allergies and diet. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can remove excess skin from your upper eyelid, lower eyelid or both to restore a more youthful look.

Your eyes will look brighter and more rested, which gives you an overall more youthful appearance. If drooping eyelids interfere with your vision, eyelid surgery can correct the problem because the skin is firmer and tighter.

Most of my patients are surprised at how well they feel the day after surgery. Restrictions for 2-3 weeks include refraining from bending, avoiding strenuous activity and wearing dark glasses to protect your eyes from sun and irritants. Some bruising may be evident for a couple of weeks, but this can be covered with light makeup.*

Results are evident in 4 to 6 weeks, and you may continue to see slight improvements for up to six months. Depending on your health and lifestyle, results can last as long as ten years.*

If you are of Asian descent, make sure your plastic surgeon is experienced in performing blepharoplasty on your ethnic group. Because Asians have a unique eyelid structure, I customize the procedure for each patient to create a natural look while preserving their cultural heritage.
