Mini Tummy Tuck Experience – What Our Patients Say

Dr. Viera is the only cosmetic surgeon I would use or recommend.*

Tummy Tuck and Breast Augmentation Success Story
Results may vary and are not guaranteed.

The ideal abdomen is the abdomen of healthy youth, firmness and soft concave curves for a narrow body mid section. Consequently our mini tummy tuck or mini abdominoplasty surgery aims to emulate these parameters. One feature which characterizes our tummy tucks is a flat abdomen and a very narrow waist line, it requires knowledge, experience and aesthetic sense. Dr.Viera is Board Certified in Cosmetic Surgery and has over twenty five years of experience in performing mini tummy tucks.

During the many years of being consulted by people seeking this procedure and listening to their goals Dr.Viera has found these to be principally four:

  • A firm front with a slight concavity
  • A narrow and curvaceous waist line from above the hip bone to below the lower rib area
  • A well hidden very faint scar

All candidates also requested that their back be liposcultured.

Two conditions bring about a flaccid abdomen, aging with attending weight gain and pregnancy. Of the two, pregnancy causes the most alteration of the abdomen. The growth of the uterus stretches the abdominal muscles, their connecting ligaments and the skin. Excessive weight gain during pregnancy brought about by hormonal changes and an increased appetite will also contribute to stretching of the skin. Once the pregnancy ends all these structures muscles, ligaments and skin remain stretched and will worsen with each following pregnancy.

Thanks so much – For your excellent work and for making my dream come true

Who Are The Candidates For A Mini Tummy Tuck?

  1. Healthy individuals with minor medical conditions who are evaluated by Dr.Viera and found to be candidates.
  2. Persons with prominent abdominal fat with some protuberance below the belly button but with firm abdominal musculature and skin.
  3. Those dissatisfied with their abdomen.

What are my options?

Before your visit with Dr.Viera your BMI (Body metabolic index) will be determined. Generally it should be between 25-30 in order to be a candidate for a tummy tuck. Dr. Viera will then meet with you, listen to your goals and examine you thoroughly. He will then make a recommendation and describe the procedure he feels is best suited to provide you with the best results possible. He will also explain what your needs are and how this procedure will work to meet them.

After the examination he will meet with you in his office privately, show you an album of his previous patients who have had the various tummy tuck procedures particularly the one he recommends for you. This will give you an idea as to what he can accomplish for you.

Each person is unique in their needs since the stretching of the skin, amount of fat and stretching of the muscles and ligaments vary with each person.

Therefore Dr.Viera carefully tailors each procedure to each patient to provide the maximum improvement possible.

Where Is The Surgery Performed?

It is performed in our AAAHC accredited surgicenter. There are various reasons why patients prefer our surgicenter:

  1. It is substantially less expensive than public surgicenters or a hospital
  2. Patients feel more comfortable in being assisted by our caring staff with whom they are familiar
  3. It is a familiar environment
  4. The risk of hospital based infections is not present
  5. Our anesthesia personnel is well versed in this type of procedure

How Long Does The Procedure Last?

The length of the procedure varies with the amount of surgery necessary, a mini tummy tuck may take two hours, a full tummy tuck three to four.*

Does This Surgery Remove All The Stretch Marks?

In mini tummy tucks the belly button is not removed, the excess skin below it is removed and tightened. The stretch marks in this skin will be removed. Liposucture is performed on the entire abdomen.

Is The Procedure Safe?

We are very conservative; the patient undergoes an extensive questionnaire so we can learn all their pertinent medical history. A physical exam is also performed as well as pertinent blood work. After this evaluation we can decide if the person is a candidate for the procedure. The procedure is very safe for the proper candidates.

How Long Is The Recovery?

This again depends on the amount of correction needed. For a mini tummy tuck, approximately seven days, for a full tummy tuck approximately two weeks.*

Do You Provide Pain Medication?

Certainly, we want our patients to be as comfortable as possible. We may also use long lasting internal pain medication which is applied during the surgery and can last several days.*

Do You Leave Drains?

Rarely on minitucks, always on full tucks. When the skin is separated from the muscles so as to trim the excess, the separation creates an empty space between them. The body tends to want to fill that space with fluid. This fluid needs to be removed by these drains so that the skin can reattach to the muscle.

How Long Will The Results Last?

As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

*Results may vary for different patients and are not guaranteed. Contact our office to schedule a personalized consultation to determine if you are a good candidate.
